Most people use all-purpose flour for bread and other baked goods, and while it's perfect for a lot of things, it's not the healthiest choice. So what is the healthier yet delicious alternative to all-purpose flour in bread and other recipes?
The answer is new talk of the town, Chickpea flour. Chickpea flour, which is nutritious and rich in protein, is finding its way into the kitchens of gluten-free and balanced foodies worldwide, and with good reason.
Chickpeas are a good source of protein, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus, as well as an excellent source of fibre, folate, and manganese. Including chickpeas in your regular diet will improve your health and can lower your risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer.
In this blog post, we are sharing a simple slice bread recipe made from chickpea flour.
Preheat oven to 375F (190C). Line and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together the chickpea flour, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
Pour the sparkling water down the side of the bowl gently to avoid a lot of foaming; add the olive oil and whisk to combine. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan right away.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in a preheated oven, until golden brown and risen.
Allow 10 minutes to cool before cutting into squares after removing from the oven.
