Danish Almond Braid

This Danish Almond Braid is so impressive but simple, packed with sweet almond paste and sprinkled with snappy sliced almonds! So versatile it can be eaten for dinner, breakfast, or brunch. That is totally irresistible and blessed with the Almond goodness.

Almond Braid
 7 oz almond paste
 ½ cup butter
 ½ cup sugar
 1 egg,
 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
 17 oz frozen puff pastry, thawed
Glaze
 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
 1 tbsp butter, softened
 2 tbsp cream
 1 tsp almond extract

Preheat the oven until 375 ° C.

In a food processor, put the almond paste, butter, and sugar; cover and pulse until chopped. Add flour and egg; and process until smooth.

Place sheets of puff pastry on a greased baking sheet.

Brush melted butter on over the middle third of 1 sheet of pastry dough.

Place half of the filling mixture over the center of the dough. Cut 8 strips on each side, about 3-1/2 in. In the center.

Starting at one end, fold over flap in the center to cover the filling.
Fold in a slight angle over the top row. Repeat in the opposite direction. Continue with remaining strips until you reach the bottom strip set.
Fold over the center flap on the bottom then fold over the last two strips.

Bake, for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown.

Move to a wire rack to completely cool.

Combine sugar, milk, and almond extract from the confectioners.

Drizzle the braids over; sprinkle with almonds. Slice it for serving.
